| The Code of Judicial
Conduct allows judges to participate in social and civic
activities and to support charitable causes in numerous
ways. But the Code creates rules governing these activities
to ensure against any risk to the judges appearance
of impartiality, any demeaning of the judicial office,
or any interference with the proper performance of judicial
duties or violation of the law. NMRA

The Code of Judicial Conduct
places restrictions on judges ability to perform
many governmental functions. This is partly to avoid
blurring lines between branches of government. Judges
are also limited in what they may say in public, to
avoid giving the impression that they have prejudged
issues that may come before them. Can Judge-elect
