NM Court System Structure

Home

In addition to the municipal and state courts, New Mexico also has Tribal Courts that are under the control of the Indian reservations.

The state and municipal courts do not have jurisdiction over these courts. That is, Tribal Courts may follow their own laws in the state, although they are subject to rulings by the US Supreme Court.

All court personnel should at least know of the existence of these courts and how they fit into the overall court system in New Mexico.
