The trend of litigants appearing before the court without counsel is growing, with no end in sight. Join Judge Phyllis Kotey, a professor at the Florida International University College of Law in Miami, Florida, for a lively, interactive discussion about the practical techniques judges can implement to keep self-represented litigant cases moving, including strategies judges should consider when a defendant insists on representing himself or herself in a criminal matter.
Please note that this is not a JEC program; however, we have purchased an annual subscription of NJC's webcasts so that New Mexico judges may attend free of charge. Attendance at these webcasts is by email invitation only. Each quarter an email is sent out with instructions on how to register free of charge for the upcoming webcast.
