The National Judicial College (NJC) will present its course, Co-Occuring Mental and Substance Abuse Disorders, during the first two days of this year's conference. Individuals with alcohol or other drug addictions frequently also suffer from major mental health disorders.  As a result, these individuals often come into contact with the criminal justice system.  To help judges implement strategies to address co-occuring disorder issues, this course will focus on the physiological and pharmacological aspects of substance abuse; identification and assessment of individuals with major mental disorders; and interacting with these individuals.

Starting on Wednesday morning, the rest of the conference will focus on topics specific to New Mexico such as:

  • legal updates
  • civil cases
  • juvenile issues
  • odyssey updates
  • ethics
  • probation violations

Registration Deadline: Friday, August 16, 2013

Attendance at this conference is by email invitation only.
